Congratulations Chris Kopach, the 2021 UA Billy Joe Varney Award for Excellence Winner!

Chris was expecting a few extra people on a zoom meeting but was quite surprised when the attendees tripled to make the announcement that he was this year's winner of the Billy Joe Varney Award for Excellence. When our committee members read the wonderful things his coworkers and community members had to say about him he was honored as he knew Billy Joe personally. Some of his accomplishments are: Chris has served as a champion of inclusion and support for others on the FM team, he nurtures a trades apprenticeship program to ensure the services needed by campus are teams of dedicated individuals, and provides opportunities for anyone in FM to offer ideas for improvements to processes. His FM team has won coveted national awards. He is also commended for his teams response to covid with distribution of essential PPE to students, faculty and staff and meeting with building monitors to ensure the pandemic response was coordinated along with testing programs, transportation and care check with covid positive students, and now the county vaccinations.
